Buddhist thought describes the world’s essence as the totality of phenomena—a domain. Infinite appears contradictory, yet it is a necessary shorthand for comprehending reality within human finitude. Physically, it echoes a universe expanding at light speed. In our hyper-connected yet fractured reality, this exhibition asks how art can respond to, and make visible, the plural dimensions of the post-global condition.
Opening the Art Box gathers artists of diverse nationalities and trajectories. Their varied media and concepts highlight the plurality of artistic positions and the transformative potential of cross-cultural encounter. Juxtaposing works rooted in distinct cultural-geographic coordinates generates heterogeneous narrative temporalities, opening toward a plural narrative space. Jacques Rancière’s notion of art’s non-identity resonates here with the Buddhist doctrine of non-duality. By placing these plural domains in dialogue, the exhibition aims to catalyze new cultural resonances, forming the narrative ground for the inaugural exhibition at YU + Art Space.
Biologist E. O. Wilson estimates that Earth’s 3.9-billion-year history has produced roughly one billion species; humans have documented only about 1.5 million, less than 2 %. This starkly illustrates the limits of human cognition and the contingency of our existence. Art, at its core, constructs signs from finite understanding and shares the resulting world-picture. Some perceive these signs beforehand, prophets glimpsing contours in dreams or imagination, entering a speculative-memorial space that feels both alien and familiar. Moving between interior worlds, art becomes a vital means of resisting existence and annihilation. For others, these signs appear alien: they may inhabit and internalize them, or choose distance, refusal, or indifference.

后全球语境下的多元叙事与界域共生
代表东方智慧的佛法体系将世界本质归结为万千色法与事相, 亦可统摄为“域”的范畴。“无限”看似是一组矛盾修辞,却可作 为有限生命维度下认知世界的便捷表述;从物理学视角审视, 这一概念又暗合宇宙以光速持续扩张的时空逻辑。身处高度 互联却又极度撕裂的现实语境,艺术如何回应并呈现后全球
主义时代所蕴含的多元面向,成为本次展览的核心思辨命题。
本次展览汇集不同国籍、不同成长轨迹的艺术家创作,其媒介 运用与理念表达极具多样性,由此凸显出艺术立场的多元性, 以及艺术在跨文化融合中所生发的变异形态与对话可能。在 当下异质同构的社会场域中,将植根于不同文化地理坐标的 艺术作品并置于同一空间,可使作品之间交织生成异质叙事 时空,进而构筑起多元叙事时空的形态可能。法国哲学家雅 克・朗西埃提出艺术的核心特质在于其”非同一性”,这一论断 与东方佛法所阐释的”不二“义理形成跨文化的思想呼应。基 于此,本次展览将艺术家构建的多元界域并置呈现,以期催
生全新的文化共鸣,以此作为鹬+艺术空间首展的叙事底色。
据生物学家 E.O. 威尔逊的研究推测,地球 39 亿年演化历程中曾 存在约一亿个物种,而人类迄今记录在册的物种仅约 150 万种,占 比不足 2%,这一数据直观印证了人类认知的局限与存在的侥幸。 艺术创作的本质,正是以有限的认知去建构“相”,并分享由此构筑 的世界图景。部分人对这一”相“早有感知,乃至被称作先知;他们 或在梦境、幻想与想象中窥见其轮廓,得以步入这一兼具思辨性与 记忆性的场域,感受其陌生与熟悉交织的特质。从一个精神世界 穿行至另一个精神世界,艺术成为抵御存在与消亡的重要路径。 而对另一些观者而言,这些艺术之“相”是异质的存在,他们既可栖
居其中、与之共情并内化其意涵,亦可选择疏离、拒绝乃至无视。
世间造物,皆建立于既有事物的重新组合之上;时间是否真的具备 线性流动的属性?过去、现在与未来的绝对分野,亦或是只是人类
