赵尔冬 Erdong Zhao
Erdong Zhao is a contemporary artist and lacquer specialist born in Hefei, Anhui in 1989. He earned both his B.F.A. and M.F.A. in Lacquer Art from the China Academy of Art (CAA). Since 2015, he has been a faculty member of the Lacquer Art Department at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts (GAFA), where he balances artistic practice with academic teaching. He currently lives and works in Guangzhou.
Zhao’s multidisciplinary practice encompasses lacquer art, painting, photography, and writing. By intertwining years of experience in abstract painting with his mastery of traditional Chinese lacquer techniques, he utilizes transcendental intuition as a focal point to reshape everyday experiences and the inner world. Rooted in the practices of Buddhism and Yoga as the foundation for his “auto-ethnographic” research, Zhao seeks to approach the core of Eastern mysticism, fostering a synthesis of knowledge that bridges ancient and contemporary cultural, social, and religious contexts.
当代艺术家、漆艺家。1989年生于安徽合肥，先后获得中国美术学院（CAA）漆艺专业学士及硕士学位。自2015年起任教于广州美术学院漆艺专业，致力于当代艺术与漆艺的创作、研究与教学。目前工作并定居于广州。
赵尔冬的艺术实践横跨漆艺、绘画、摄影及写作。他将深厚的抽象绘画经验与精湛的中国传统漆艺技艺相交织，以超验式的直觉经验为支点，试图在创作中重塑日常经验与内在世界。他将佛法与瑜伽的修习作为“自我民族志”研究的基石，以此触及东方神秘学的核心，并在作品中建构起连接古今文化、社会与宗教经验的知识桥梁。
