I stand upon the earth by the grace of gravity; there is a profound comfort in this tethering force that anchors my existence. Yet, my weight serves as a persistent indicator of my presence on this planet. Occasionally, I yearn to shed the burdens of daily life—to embrace the urge to fly while still standing firm, dreaming of an existence that transcends gravity itself. This work manifests the inherent contradictions of gravitational power. An inverted triangle achieves a solitary balance through strategic weighting, resembling an individual standing and navigating the world under their own burden. Nearby, a balloon tethered to a cube strains toward the sky. By visualizing states of precarious balance, soaring, and crashing, the work explores the most evocative effects of gravity. In pursuit of structural purity, some pieces forgo welding or adhesives, relying solely on the raw physical force of gravity to maintain their form.
